CHEAP TRICKS AND STUPID SKITS

What in the world is going on at the people's White House? It's one thing for President Clinton to produce stupid skits of himself to show at the White House Correspondent's Dinner at taxpayer's expense, but it's something else entirely when it demeans the already sullied office of the president.

Indeed, the President of the United States making light of himself may seem innocently humorous to the news media and the politically naive, but when the leader of the free world is depicted stealing ice cream sandwiches from a White House vending machine, it's simply sad.

Even more disturbing is the White House's interplay with NBC's "West Wing" and their actors. It's an obvious political campaign to improve the lot of Democrats, Clinton's image and his legacy. Instead, it further cheapens the dignity of the White House.

This powerful fantasy between Bill Clinton, the news media and Hollywood is disturbing. Not because it's an obvious detraction from the e-mail investigation and the Elian Gonzalez fiasco, but because it was immediately followed by a "White House Conference on Teenagers."

Clearly, Senate candidate Hillary Clinton is using the White House as her campaign headquarters. She chaired the conference on teenagers to further her campaign, and used it for the president to announce his symbolic executive order for parental rights in the federal workplace.

Indeed, these dizzying displays of propaganda are confusing. The American family is having trouble enough without being further disenfranchised by social revisionists, academics, psychology quacks and government determined to be our national nannies.
