"Vote.com" is an intense excercise in the potential of people power by means of the Internet. The DDC knew that long before it was established in 1995. Indeed, the only reason we recommend this book is because the content comes from a master political operative turned renegade.
When the reader sifts through his rationalization of Bill Clinton and the personal puff of Morris himself is discounted, revealing information about media, politics and polling spills out in vivid detail. Morris knows where the power is and he displays his ability to be ahead of the flow. His conclusion in the book is telling.
>From the book's epilogue: "How ironic that the most modern of tools, the Internet, should so catalyze our progress toward the oldest of visions: direct democracy. In some ways these changes will seem like a return to earlier ideas and strategies. Grassroots organizing will pick up where it left off. What small size and intimate geography permitted ancient Athens to accomplish, the Internet will let America and the world accomplish."

It should be noted that in our previous book review of Arianna Huffington's "How to Overthrow the Government," we neglected to point out that Huffington's solution is to hang-up on pollsters, organize and demonstrate against government. Dick Morris' "Vote.com" emphasizes his kind of polling as the solution. The encouraging outlook, in our opinion, is that here are two renegades from each side of the political spectrum who recognize the inevitable. It should also be noted that funding for the vote.com Web site comes from Dick Scruggs and Steve Bozeman, two of the nation's leading anti-tobacco lawyers???
Founder's note: Our book SILENT CRISIS was sent to Arianna Huffington and Dick Morris for review. No response. We also asked them to link the DDC on their Web sites. No response. Doesn't say much for their integrity about the Internet and real democracy.
