PARTISAN POLITICS AND LACK OF INTELLIGENCE

When assigning blame for the failure of U.S. foreign and domestic intelligence, the adverse effects of partisan politics should not be overlooked.

Indeed, if past administrations and the current administration had taken heed to terrorist studies, the development of modern terrorism, and corrected the gross lack of intelligence, instead of being consumed by campaign modes and distracted by political party posturing, they might have prevented decades of terrorist acts and the horrific attacks on New York and Washington. Certainly, Congress must share in the irresponsibility for its lack of oversight.

Clearly, our government has gotten the blood-stained message and partisan politics have been set aside to do justice and to protect the United States and our people. However, there is a simple parallel, that should not have to be used, that cannot be ignored: Too many people must lose their lives on dangerous roads and intersections before government acts to make them safe.
