CHENEY AND LIEBERMAN TAPPED TO ADD CHARACTER, ETHICS AND RELIGION TO THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION?

Bunk! The VP is a hollow office, and the only religions in politics are the Democratic and Republican parties.

What will the voters really get from the 2000 elections? Pre-selected candidates from the two-party system's primaries and the political "show-biz" of carefully scripted "uncoventions." Sales-pitch babble about meaningless vice presidential "poster boy" candidates for morality and integrity. The blah-blah-blah of political pundits. And the partisan terrorism from party operatives and political prostitutes.

Then there's the yadda-yadda-yadda of unresponsive campaign advisors and hyper-analysts. Clucking and shrieking from special and selfish interests. Lies, distortions and deceit of the day. And unjournalists throwing "red meat" to hungry political cat fighters to spice-up the show for ratings.

Alas, when the "political smoke-over-fraud" settles and the winners are projected before election day is over, voters, and those who didn't, can expect nothing more or less than government controlled by Republicans and Democrats, and ruled by bureaucrats.

What will the voters get out of the 2000 elections? More political chaos than ever. As citizens and voters, all we need to be concerned about is the fact that politicians, journalists and the corporate media live in a world of gated communities, far removed from us and the realities of a deeply troubled society.

But it's not voter apathy or cynicism that allows it to continue unabated. It's simply the stress of a social vacuum and unrealized economic pain. Fear not, however, change is on the way. The information technology revolution is empowering the voters and it makes nonpartisan democracy inevitable.
